If not, feel free to start there and come back. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read on for a few more mistakes we see related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olshanlaw.com\/f-sweepstakes-law-basics.html\">sweepstakes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweeppeasweeps.com\/sweepstakes-and-contest-rules-by-state.html\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"contest rules\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">contest rules<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-not-including-disclaimers-for-social-media-platforms\"><strong>Not including disclaimers\nfor social media platforms <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We have seen countless promotions on Facebook and Instagram that don\u2019t include disclaimers. Yes, Facebook is happy to let you run your sweepstakes there, but it doesn\u2019t want to take any liability for it and has a disclaimer you must include. Saying, \u201cnot everyone is doing it,\u201d won\u2019t protect you in court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-not-registering-your-rules-or-overall-promotion\"><strong>Not registering your rules or overall promotion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to award a really big\nprize? If it\u2019s worth more than $5,000, you\u2019ll have to register and bond your\nsweepstakes in 2 states: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweeppeasweeps.com\/sweepstakes-and-contest-rules-new-york\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"39\" title=\"new york\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweeppeasweeps.com\/sweepstakes-and-contest-rules-florida\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"16\" title=\"florida\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Florida<\/a>. While this isn\u2019t reflected in your\nrules per se, you are required to file a copy of the rules and other documents with\neach state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-changing-your-sweepstakes-or-contest-rules-midstream\"><strong>Changing your sweepstakes or contest rules midstream<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a big no-no and could\nlead to consumer complaints or even worse, lawsuits. Once your promotion starts,\nthe rules should dictate everything that happens. If it\u2019s not going as planned\nor you feel it\u2019s necessary to change your rules, consult your attorney or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweeppeasweeps.com\/\">sweepstakes management company<\/a> like ours\nfirst. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-not-including-usage-rights-for-images\"><strong>Not including usage rights\nfor images <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UGC or user-generated content\nis a popular term in marketing circles, but if you\u2019re looking to get UGC from\nyour promotion, make sure you\u2019re covered in your rules.
